Cops to train 15 for workforce

Fifteen young people between the ages of 16 and 25 are getting the opportunity to be trained and equipped for the world of work following their induction yesterday into the third of eight cohorts of the King’s Trust International Barbados Teams Programme.

Managed by the Barbados Police Service, the initiative is targeted at unemployed youth where for 12 weeks, they will be trained in several areas like self-esteem and confidence.

Station Sergeant Jamal Mohan said there were eight cohorts a year and they are targeting 136 youths.

The programme comprises seven components, and yesterday’s introductory segment at the Glebe Resource Centre, The Glebe, St George, saw participants getting acquainted with each other and working on building their self-esteem.
