Anglican Dean Emeritus Harold Edmund Crichlow passed away after a brief illness on Sunday June 22, 2025.
His wife Margot remained at his side, caring for him during his illness.
Crichlow, age 90, served as Dean of the Cathedral of St Michael and All Angels from 1972 to 2000. His sermons did not shy away from the issues of the day and were often reported in the newspapers.
In June 2003, Crichlow was sworn in as an Independent Senator, taking his message from the pulpit to Parliament where he continued to speak on critical issues. By March 2012, he was elevated to the post of Deputy President.
Earlier, President Sir Branford Taitt announced his resignation, paving the way for then 38-year-old Kerryann Ifill to become first woman and first blind person to hold the office of President.
Crichlow was an avid photographer and also served as programme director for gospel station Faith 102.1. (SAT)
