Former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Donna Babb-Agard was this morning sworn in as a judge of the High Court of Barbados at State House.
She took the oaths of office before President of Barbados The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, sharing the moment with husband Sean Agard, mother Euleene Babb and close friend Clarine Cave.
Babb-Agard, the first female deputy DPP and first woman to be appointed DPP has more than 30 years’ experience in the judicial system, having worked her way up from an attorney. She briefly served as a magistrate.
“I am no shirker. Hard work won’t kill me . . . I’m going to continue to serve as best I can to be fair and continue to work with integrity,” she said.
“So I’m now grateful for this opportunity and reaching the pinnacle of that career.”
