What was supposed to be a dream jump up for hundreds of Grand Kadooment revellers turned into a nightmare after many were left without costumes, scrambling for answers and demanding refunds from Dream Mas Grand Kadooment band.
A Saturday Sun investigation has uncovered hundreds of complaints across social media from both Barbadians and overseas visitors who say they either never received costumes or were handed outfits they claim were vastly different from those advertised.
The only reveller to publicly identify himself is fitness instructor and entrepreneur Corey Springer, who said he was disappointed after paying $1 100 for what he described as a costume fiasco that ruined his Crop Over experience. He is seeking a refund and intends to continue publicly highlighting the issue every day until affected patrons receive answers.
“I’ve already spoken to my lawyer,” Springer said, adding that he has also reached out to the Fair Trading Commission.
He is among scores of revellers who have taken to Facebook, Instagram and X detailing missed collection dates, changing pick-up locations, incomplete costumes, cancelled sections and unanswered requests for refunds.
When contacted by the Saturday Sun, Dream Mas representative Brian Corbin said the band had already begun communicating with affected customers.
“We have issued notices and apologies directly to our membership which includes all those who were affected,” he said. (NS)
