Drug trafficker to be sentenced on June 30

Guyanese national Colis Arlington Paul who admitted drug trafficking charges is expected to be sentenced when his case resumes in the Supreme Court.

Paul pleaded guilty to having, trafficking and importing 1.29 kilogrammes of cannabis within Barbados’ territorial waters on March 28, 2021.

He also admitted to having, trafficking and importing 607.81 grammes of cocaine at the time.

Acting Senior State Counsel Maya Kellman told the court that Paul and another man were intercepted at sea on a vessel carrying 22 bags containing 343 packages of cannabis and cocaine.

During his interview, Paul admitted the drugs were his, stating: “My purpose was to deliver to a friend in Trinidad.”

Paul is represented by attorney-at-law Samuel Legay, while Justice Pamela Beckles is presiding.

The case was adjourned until June 30.
