Duo deny deception charges

Two St Michael men have been granted bail after pleading not guilty to six criminal deception charges involving clothing allegedly obtained with another man’s debit card.

Shaquon Devon Jarome Branch, 22, of 3rd Avenue Ivy, and Tyrek Nathanael Haynes, 18, of Free Hill, Black Rock, have pleaded not guilty to five charges of dishonestly obtaining from Loyalty Dream Club clothing valued at $100 by deception, by falsely representing that they were in lawful possession of a City of Bridgetown Credit Union Visa debit card in the name of Dwayne Seale and that they were authorised to use the card.

They also pleaded not guilty to dishonestly obtaining from the same establishment clothing valued at $85, by falsely representing that they were in lawful possession of and were authorised to use the same debit card.

The offences allegedly occurred on August 28.

Prosecutor Police Constable Troy Tudor made no objections to bail but asked that conditions be set.

Magistrate Jared Richards placed Branch on a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew and ordered both accused to report to a police station weekly.

The case continues on December 7.
