Four primary schools will undergo major infrastructural upgrades as the Ministry of Education Transformation begins the first phase of its school transformation programme this month.
The works at St. Paul’s Primary School, Milton Lynch Primary School, Eagle Hall Primary School and Good Shepherd Primary School are expected to continue from September 2026 through August 2027.
The upgrades will include roof replacement and repairs, structural and steelwork improvements, new emergency stairs, accessible bathrooms, covered outdoor spaces and new guard facilities.
The schools will also receive dedicated inclusive education classrooms, electrical and plumbing upgrades, new windows and doors, painting and improvements to school grounds, as well as new water tanks.
The works will also include upgrades to support Category 1 hurricane-shelter compliance.
According to the Ministry, the improvements are aimed at creating safe, modern, inclusive and resilient learning environments for students and educators.
The Ministry acknowledged that the construction could temporarily disrupt school communities but said efforts will be made to manage the impact while maintaining safe and supportive environments.
Teaching and learning will continue at alternative locations while the upgrades are underway.
St. Paul’s Primary School students will use Bay Primary School and Luther Thorne Memorial Primary School.
Eagle Hall Primary School students will be accommodated at Lawrence T. Gay Memorial Primary School.
Students of Milton Lynch Primary School will use St. Christopher Primary School and St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church.
Good Shepherd Primary School students will use Eden Lodge Primary School, Trent’s Community Center and John the Baptist Church.
The Ministry said it will continue to provide updates to the affected schools, their communities and the wider public as the projects progress.
