From graduate to game-changer: Kieron Savoury’s digital growth journey

When Kieron Savoury first joined the Liberty Latin America Graduate Programme, he had no idea that the experience would set him on a career path spanning multiple islands, major product launches, and measurable impact on digital growth across the Caribbean.

Today, as Senior Specialist, Digital Growth, with responsibility for Barbados, Cayman Islands, and Curaçao, Kieron stands as a living example of what the programme was designed to achieve: empowering young professionals to lead with innovation, collaboration, and purpose.

Long before stepping into the corporate world, Kieron was learning lessons about teamwork and accountability on the basketball court.

“Basketball taught me commitment,” he says. “Even when you don’t feel like showing up, you have to. You have to execute the strategy, work with your team, and compete with yourself to be better every day. That mentality follows me into every project I take on.”

That drive and discipline caught the attention of Liberty recruiters when Kieron applied to the Graduate Programme, which was in its first year at the time. Designed to attract young Caribbean professionals, the initiative offered participants real-world exposure to cross-market operations, regional mentorship, and hands-on project leadership across the Liberty Latin America group.

“I didn’t know exactly what to expect,” he admits. “But I knew I wanted to do work that mattered; work that would impact people across the region.”

The programme began with an intensive onboarding in Panama, where Kieron joined other graduates from across Latin America and the Caribbean to learn about the company’s structure, culture, and strategic priorities.

From there, he returned to Barbados and began applying what he’d learned to local markets – quickly proving that the programme’s goal of developing young, capable leaders was more than just a slogan.

One of his proudest moments came in the launch of FLOW Mania in the Cayman Islands, where he led the go-to-market coordination, working across technology, marketing, and legal teams to bring the new product to life:

“That project really honed my skills. I learned how important collaboration and execution are when you’re managing multiple moving parts. It’s not just about having a great idea – it’s about making it work,” he said.

Mentorship is a cornerstone of the Liberty Graduate Programme, and for Kieron, it has been a defining part of his professional growth.

“So definitely you have to be on the lookout for opportunities like this, but also utilise persons who have walked that path before you. Utilise mentors, find mentors, find persons who are in the positions that you possibly see yourself in in a few years, because those persons can instill a lot of knowledge.

“And as a young person we sometimes think we know it all, we know what we want, we know what we want to do, but the truth is that once you get into the world of work and you start to work with others, you start to realise, there’s a lot that you need to learn and the best way to learn it is to work with others who have done [it],” he explains.

He believes the culture of mentorship and teamwork within the company is what transforms young professionals into confident, strategic thinkers capable of leading projects that touch lives.

His advice to university students and young professionals is straightforward:

“Look for people who are already doing what you aspire to do. Learn from them. The world of work will teach you a lot, but it’s even better when someone helps light the way,” he notes.

Now, in his senior role, Kieron continues to embody the spirit of the programme using technology and innovation to connect people and communities across the region.

“What excites me most is seeing the work we do in Barbados replicated in other islands. When I see a campaign or initiative I helped build taking off in another market, that’s a moment of pride. It’s proof that our work has regional impact,” he said.

He sees digital adoption not just as a technical goal, but as a pathway for empowerment.

“The work that I’ve done has impacted thousands of persons, probably millions, because we really worked to encourage the communities in building their digital awareness, being able to grow their skills. And I felt as though this is something that aligned with me personally. I’ve been able to have an impact as a young person,” he says.

“We’re helping people communicate, learn, and grow through technology. When communities become more digitally confident, we all move forward.”

Kieron describes his journey from graduate to regional leader as a platform that doesn’t just prepare young professionals for the corporate world but gives them the opportunity to shape it: “I’ve seen myself grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Now, I want to help others experience that too.”
