Retired cleric Reverend Carlos Brathwaite is being celebrated as the “ultimate girls’ dad” by his wife, daughters, and granddaughters this Father’s Day.
The 69-year-old former banker, teacher, and church leader is the proud father of three daughters — Mawena, Danyele, and Rechika — and grandfather to Royalty and Zhuri. Despite having no sons, Carlos, who was one of five boys himself, says he feels deeply blessed by the family God gave him.
Known for his unwavering commitment to family and faith, Carlos’ wife Yvonne praised him as a “dad extraordinaire,” noting he’s always been a provider, protector, and strong spiritual guide for their children. Even now, with two daughters married, they continue to turn to him for advice and comfort.
Carlos credits his own upbringing — particularly the influence of his grandparents — for shaping the way he fathers, saying being a dad is his greatest joy. “All my other achievements could not compare to the joy of becoming a dad,” he said.
Now a grandfather, Carlos continues to play an active role, helping to care for his granddaughters and cherishing every moment with them.
His daughters describe him as their hero, rock, and safe place — a man whose love has shaped their lives.
And while today may be Father’s Day, for the Brathwaite family, every Sunday is already a celebration of love, unity, and faith.
