Gordon Greenidge, Welches, and West Terrace shine in primary schools cricket competition

Gordon Greenidge Primary held their nerve to clinch a hard-fought 10-run victory over A. Dacosta Edwards Primary on Thursday.

After posting 85 all out in the first innings, Gordon Greenidge relied heavily on their bowlers to defend the modest total. Tay-Jon Cumberbatch led the attack with an impressive 4-17, supported by Leron Rock with 3-28.

Despite a strong spell from Shamir Worrell, who took 4-18, and I-troy Bovell with 3-2, A. Dacosta Edwards fell short in the chase, managing 75-9.

Wesley Hall Primary also recorded a comfortable 40-run win over Charles F. Broome Memorial. Reymar Gilkes anchored Wesley Hall’s innings with a composed unbeaten 32 to guide his team to 99-7.

In response, Charles F. Broome never settled against the fiery spell of Danari Preville, who ripped through the batting lineup to claim figures of 6-13 and seal the win.

Defending champions Williams Industries West Terrace turned in yet another dominant display as they demolished Al-Falah by 164 runs. Neymar Forde was unstoppable with a majestic 136, guiding West Terrace to 219-4 alongside Kaleb Haynes, who added 39.

The bowlers then finished the job ruthlessly, skittling Al-Falah for 55, thanks to the efforts of Rojay Barrow (4-3) and Kailen Corbin (2-1).

Milton Lynch Primary also enjoyed a comfortable outing with a nine-wicket victory over Hilda Skeene Primary. Tyler Narine’s 48 had helped Hilda Skeene to a competitive 142-8, but the total proved inadequate as Jakeem Brathwaite stole the show with an unbeaten 64 to lead Milton Lynch to 143-1.

Westbury Primary secured a seven-wicket win against Grazettes Primary after restricting them to 113-8. Torian Barker guided the chase with 19 not out as Westbury replied with 115-3.

A Class Battery Bayley’s Primary were in superb form once again, brushing aside Blackman & Gollop Primary by 164 runs. Bayley’s posted 198-4, fuelled by Jalani Franklyn’s 48, supported by 38 from Ashoni Hinkson and an unbeaten 31 from Jadeja Holder.
