The new date for this year’s edition of the Barbados Grand Prix is July 4.
In a brief announcement on social media, the organising committee said that the date had been pushed forward a week from July 11 to accommodate the recent changes to the international athletics calendar.
The release said: “In consideration of recent changes to the international athletics calendar and the participation of several of our invited athletes in another major championship, the Barbados Grand Prix will now take place on July 4th, 2026.”
The event, which will be hosted once again at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex, will follow a similar format to last year with each athlete being selected to be a part of one of four teams through a draft system.
The teams are the Panthers (Red), Eagles (Green), Outlaws (Blue) and Lions (Yellow), and they are set to retain their coaches from last year.
The athletes will participate in one individual event, which means that prize monies will be allocated to multiple athletes, except for those winners who are a part of the American collegiate setup and aren’t allowed to do so.
