Justice Donna Babb-Agard strongly rebuked 82-year-old Winfield Nurse, telling him the different versions he gave to police were simply an attempt to “distance yourself from this crime”, and his refusal to divulge what he had done led to his missing granddaughter being considered a cold case for more than a decade.
She then ordered prison officials to “get Mr Nurse out of my court”.
However, because of the almost ten years Nurse spent on remand and a deduction of a year for mitigating factors, he will be out in just over two years.
