Justin Greaves is at it again.
That is because he saved the West Indies from a batting collapse against Pakistan on the opening day of the second Test, marking another occasion in this present purple patch where he came to the rescue with a big heart and broad bat.
He is on 64 not out, so far the top score of the match, as West Indies ended on 239 for five when bad light brought the day’s play to a close at 5:30 p.m. after 74 overs.
He will resume today with his skipper Roston Chase (36 not out), who joined him in the fightback.
Fast bowler Mohammad Ali adopted a pugilistic approach to Chase and subjected him to a barrage of short-pitched bowling on a “sporting” surface at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Greaves, the number nine ranked all-rounder in the world, was Man of the Match in the first Test.
He reached his third half century from 92 balls when he collected two runs from a delicate and controlled back cut. The pair came together at 173 for five when Shai Hope was bowled for 29.
