With three different winners in the first four rounds and three more drivers on the podium, season five of the Barbados Rally2 Championship is the most competitive yet, with just eight points now covering the top three in the title chase with two rounds remaining.
Jamaica’s Kyle Gregg in his Ford Fiesta Rally2 was the top scorer over the two rounds at BCIC Rally Barbados 2026, which saw him climb from fifth to third,
For Gregg, who finished third in the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) championship in 2024 and was runner-up behind countryman Jeff Panton last year, rounds three and four were vital for his title hopes after crashing out on the first run at the previous weekend’s First Citizens King of the Hill (KotH) and scoring no points.
Having dropped from second to fifth after KotH – 12 points behind leader and 2022 champion Stuart Maloney – there was all to play for in BCIC RB26 with a maximum of 66 points on offer.
Mark Maloney in his Fabia RS Rally2 won the Friday night Riddara Bushy Park SuperSpecial, beating brother Stuart and Adam Mallalieu (Fiesta Rally2). Northern Ireland Tarmac champion Aaron McLaughlin (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5) was fourth – overseas guests do not score points – ahead of Panton, the five-time winner of Rally Barbados, and 2024 Rally2 champion Josh Read (Fiesta Rally2).
The Barbados Rally2 Championship resumes on September 12 with the Motoring Club Barbados Inc’s (MCBI) premier event, Rally of the Sun & Stars.
