Guyanese man admits drug trafficking charges

A Guyanese national has pleaded guilty to multiple drug offences stemming from a maritime drug bust five years ago and will return to court for sentencing later this month.

Colis Arlington Paul admitted to having, trafficking and importing 1.29 kilogrammes of cannabis within the territorial waters of Barbados on March 28, 2021.

He also pleaded guilty to having, trafficking and importing 607.81 grammes of cocaine within Barbados’ territorial waters on the same date.

Defence attorney Samuel Legay requested a report on the time Paul spent on remand.

Justice Pamela Beckles is to hear sentencing submissions from the defence and State Counsel Maya Kellman on June 23, with sentencing scheduled for June 30.
