Barbados experienced the best kind of “Grenada invasion” on Sunday night when several artistes from the Spice Isle touched down at Rum Punch.
Just as a general orchestrates chaos, the “Greenz” entertainers, with help from their Bajan comrades, delivered explosive performances at Kensington Oval during the post-Carnival event.
V’ghn was among the entertainers who had the large, boisterous crowd singing along and chanting to Trouble in the Morning, Explore, Finally, and the juggernaut hit Jab Decisions.
V’ghn also got up close with fans, recording his own video with them while he was on stage. As he stood with a microphone in one hand and a phone in the other, the crowd was amused.
He even paid tribute to the late Trinidadian entertainer Blaxx by performing Leh Go and Gyal Owner which he wrote.
During Vghn’s performance, he introduced Bajan entertainer Jordan English, who caused even more eruption when he performed Weatherman 3Style.
English stepped out in a bright yellow raincoat, proving he was ready for the stage regardless of the elements. Although the song was only released about a month ago, the lyrics echoed across the venue as the crowd sang along.
From the moment Grenadian Muddy appeared on stage, backpack in tow, both he and the audience were ready for action.
It was as if he had them all on Payroll – because they sang the hit word-for-word.
Muddy then jumped off the stage and parted the sea of soca lovers and their large flags, moving through the crowd with great energy and enthusiasm.
Quon and Doejay served up their 2025 Crop Over hit Bartender like master mixologists, stirring the crowd into a frenzy. The event was hosted by DJ Gunner and featured performances from deejays
Jesse T, Raw Gas, DJ Ras, Big Mike & Evolution and the Legacy Team, who also played well.
If this night was any indication of what the upcoming Crop Over season and events like Rum Punch Crop Over August 2 have in store, it’s clear fans are in for an unforgettable summer. (TG)
