Harrison edge Lester Vaughan, St Michael and Queen’s College triumph

Harrison College edged Lester Vaughan School in Zone One of the Dasani Powerade Barbados Secondary Schools Netball League Under-13 competition on Tuesday. In a tightly contested encounter, the girls from Crumpton Street won 7–6. Goal-shooter Shenia Miller-Stuart scored two of her three attempts, while goal-attack Niah Weekes added five goals from eight attempts. On the opposing side, goal-attack Jazara Wilson kept Lester Vaughan in the match with six goals from 11 shots.

Also in Zone One, The St Michael School dominated Coleridge and Parry to secure a 13–8 win. Leading the charge for St Michael, goal-shooter Janai Harvey netted 11 of 15 attempts, supported by goal-attack Zianiah Smith, who added two from six attempts. For Coleridge and Parry, goal-attack Hallie Gilkes contributed five of nine attempts, while goal-attack Kiya Rock scored three from seven.

Over in Zone Two of the Under-13 age group, Queen’s College delivered a strong performance, blanking The Lodge School 9–0. Goal-shooter Amber Balgobin led Queen’s College’s scoring tally with three of six attempts, while goal-attack Mariah Williams was impressive with six goals from 10 shots. Lodge School’s shooters Chalesa Pilgrim and Azaria Williams were unable to convert their lone attempts.

Another convincing result came from Combermere School, who outplayed Alleyne School 18–1. For Combermere, goal-shooter Anara Alleyne-Toussaint scored nine of 13 attempts, while goal-attack Skye Cox chipped in with two of eight. Second goal-shooter Nyere Mayers also impressed with seven of nine. Alleyne’s lone goal came from goal-shooter Elizabeth Quintyne.

In the Under-19 Division, Queen’s College defeated The Lodge School 32–18. The star of the match was goal-attack Alyssa Davidson, who converted 24 of 33 attempts for Queen’s College, while goal-shooter Tamiah Hall added six of 13, and goal-attack Deeya Forde-Haynes contributed two of three. For The Lodge School, goal-shooter Caitlyn Boyce led with 14 of 19, supported by goal-attack Jakaira Jones-Smith, who scored four of 11.

Combermere School continued their strong form, overpowering Alleyne School 35–15. Combermere’s goal-shooter Kezia White-Keal was in top form with 19 goals from 22 attempts, goal-shooter Tyesha Trotman was flawless with nine from nine, and goal-attack Cherish Gibson netted six from 10. Alleyne’s response came from goal-shooter Dashawna Howell with 13 of 17, and goal-attack Nataliyah Bridgeman-Smart with two of six.

Meanwhile, Christ Church Foundation School secured a commanding 28–5 win over Princess Margaret School. For Foundation, goal-attack Ashari Brathwaite was the standout performer, scoring 17 of 29 attempts. She received strong support from goal-shooter Eden Brathwaite with five of 11 and goal-attack Gabrielle Edghill with six of 16. Princess Margaret’s efforts were led by goal-shooter Maliyah Darlington-Ince (3 of 8) and goal-attack Keziah Jones (2 of 7). (AS)
