Motorists travelling through St Lucy are being advised of traffic changes as the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) carries out mains installation work along Highway 1C, Hope Road.
The BWA said the road will be closed to vehicular traffic from today, Wednesday, October 22, until Friday, October 24, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. The temporary closure is to allow crews to safely use heavy excavation equipment along the narrow stretch of road.
According to the Authority, southbound traffic from areas such as River Bay and the St Lucy District Hospital should continue along Highway 1C to Northumberland, then detour via Hope Bridge Road to access Spring Hall. Northbound motorists from Spring Hall should use Hope Bridge Road through Northumberland to reach areas north of the work zone, including the District Hospital, River Bay, and the Animal Flower Cave Road.
The BWA said efforts are being made to minimise disruption and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
“The Authority apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as we work to improve essential infrastructure,” the statement added.
Further updates will be posted on the BWA’s official channels.
