Israel no longer hides its real intentions, its actions, or its lies. Palestinian lives mean nothing to them. International rules, laws and opinions are of no consequence to their behaviour. The world’s governments are paralysed and cannot act to at least save the Palestinian people from extermination. The people of the world recognise the truth, the agony of the Palestinians, and our voices get stronger, but it is just our voices we have. Those with the power to effect change are helpless, hopeless and unwilling.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is anything but humanitarian. The United Nations’ core principles are centred around maintaining international peace and security, fostering friendly relations among nations, and promoting cooperation to address global challenges like poverty, hunger, and human rights. These principles are enshrined in the UN Charter, yet the United Nations, with all its principles, laws and charters, cannot stop the monster Israel is.
CARICOM countries continue to issue statements of condemnation but cannot act with resolve to suspend diplomatic, economic and cultural ties with Israel, and join South Africa in its case against Israel before the International Court of Justice.
Our courts are powerless to uphold the rule of law in this blatant case of genocide, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.
Zionism is against the core principles of Judaism, yet it is allowed to parade as a philosophy founded in the Jewish faith, having colonialist ambitions. And the Palestinian people, for over a century, have been paying the cruellest of prices for the ambitions of this blatantly racist, expansionist ideology.
The Palestinian flag and the keffiyeh scarf are now the universal symbols of resistance, truth, humanity and justice. That is what happens when injustice and oppression are allowed to fester: people with conscience will stand up against tyranny. History has taught us that lesson so many times. This is truly a David vs Goliath retake, but the Goliath persona today is Israel. Oppressors will appear successful for a while, but time will be the true judge, as the cries and wailing of the oppressed are not far from the hearing of the Almighty.
We continue to stand for and with Palestine and the Palestinian people, confident that we stand on the right side of history.
