It’s now a homicide

Police are probing the death of Laqwain Morris as a homicide.

On Tuesday, initial investigations indicated the 35-year-old, of Silver Hill, Christ Church, was riding a motorcycle along Lodge Road, in the same parish, about 9:45 p.m. when he was struck by a car. Ambulance personnel were summoned to the scene, inspected the body and found no signs of life. A doctor subsequently pronounced death.

The incident was initially reported as a suspected hit and run in the media, though Morris’ family was sceptical about the circumstances surrounding his death and were hoping for an autopsy to provide some clarity.

Yesterday, police communications

and public affairs officer, acting Inspector Ryan Brathwaite, said the autopsy ruled out a hit and run.

“An autopsy was conducted and based on the results, a murder investigation has commenced,” he said, adding Morris had been shot.

This means Morris was the 27th homicide out of 28 for 2025.

With nine killings, June has been the bloodiest month so far. January recorded the next highest with seven, and April had four. (CA)
