Make-up and body paint were in high demand

Make-up and body paint services were in high demand yesterday as masqueraders prepared for Grand Kadooment.

That observation was made as clients flocked to Body Art Central, Jackson, St Michael and Courtyard by Marriott, Hastings, Christ Church where the I Heart Makeup set up a special centre.

Tranette Forte of Body Art began spray-painting bodies around 10 p.m. on Sunday and expected to work up until 11 a.m. Kadooment Day

“A lot of people come to get their bodies painted. They love the abs, the designs. . . but I can only paint so many people. This is detailed, its stencilling, cutting the abs and trying to be creative so everything takes time,” Forte said.

She said the artwork helped people feel more confident on the road.

“I enjoy seeing people on the stage in full costume. This builds confidence because some people don’t like feeling like they are naked on the road,” she added.

Ohmar Ifill was getting airbrushed when the DAILY NATION team visited the location around midnight.

“I feel amazing, excited and pumped for the road and I love the paint because it brings out a different side of me. I love the colours and the creativity and how I feel when I get the body paint,” Ifill said.

Over at Courtyard, the I Heart team comprised of six make-up artists who were working diligently to enhance their clients’ beauty and ensure they were road ready.

Co-founder Shanel Estwick said the demand was still high.

“The demand is still high but the client make-up has changed a little bit. Last year there were more locals; this year there are more visitors,” Estwick said.

The I Heart Team has been ‘beating’ faces for 17 years, especially around Kadooment time.
