Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s widow sues actor’s mother over prenuptial agreement

The widow of late actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner has filed a lawsuit against his mother over an alleged failure to honour the terms of their prenuptial agreement.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Tenisha Warner filed the lawsuit on Monday in DeKalb County Superior Court against Pamela Warner, the successor trustee of the late actor’s family trust.

Tenisha Warner claims she is entitled to approximately US$1.2 million from the trust under the terms of the prenuptial agreement. The lawsuit argues that because the funds were not transferred before Warner’s death, she should be recognised as a creditor of his estate.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner died on July 20, 2025, at the age of 54 after accidentally drowning while on a family vacation in Costa Rica with his wife and their daughter.

The couple married in 2017 and welcomed their daughter later that year.

Pamela Warner, who also served as her son’s talent manager, described him after his death as “an exceptional husband, father, and son, a man deeply in love with life, his wife, and his daughter.”

Best known for portraying Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, Warner also starred in Malcolm & Eddie, Reed Between the Lines and The Resident. He was also an accomplished musician, earning two Grammy nominations and winning one Grammy Award. (Complex News)
