The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Gabrielle, which formed on Wednesday morning, about 911 miles northeast of the island.Current projections see Tropical Storm Gabrielle moving northwest to west-northwest over the next few days – a track that takes it well away from Barbados.
No watches or warnings are in effect at this time.
The system is expected to track well north of the region towards the end of this week and into the weekend.
As Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues to move closer towards the region, hot and uncomfortable conditions will persist towards the end of this week and over the weekend. However, there is the possibility of localised showers during the afternoon over some western and northern districts which may result in flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents are advised to stay informed by following official updates from the Met Office, the Department of Emergency Management, and the Government Information Service, and to monitor their websites and social media pages, as well as local media outlets for the latest information.
