Teachers and support staff at Princess Margaret Secondary School met with senior officials from the Ministry of Educational Transformation on Thursday, following the circulation of a letter in the media outlining several concerns at the institution.
The meeting, held at the school, was attended by the Chief Education Officer, Deputy Chief Education Officer, and other ministry representatives.
It formed part of the Ministry’s response to the issues raised and was aimed at fostering open and constructive dialogue between education officials and staff.
During the discussions, it was revealed that some teachers were unaware of the full scope of the challenges highlighted in the letter.
However, the engagement allowed for the sharing of perspectives, clarification of concerns, and a collective reflection on the school’s environment.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the Ministry acknowledged the dedication of the school’s staff and commended their willingness to participate in meaningful dialogue.
Officials said the session provided valuable insight into the daily challenges faced by educators and support workers at the school.
As a result of the engagement, the Ministry has announced that Princess Margaret Secondary will remain closed on Tuesday, June 10, to facilitate counselling and forward planning.
The visit forms part of a wider effort by the Ministry to strengthen communication and collaboration within the education sector.
Similar engagements are scheduled over the next three weeks, beginning with Frederick Smith Secondary School.
