An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale shook parts of the eastern Caribbean around 8:39 a.m. Monday, but officials say there is no tsunami threat to Barbados.
According to the Barbados Meteorological Services, the quake struck out in the Atlantic Ocean to the north-east of the island.
While some people in Barbados may have felt slight tremors, authorities have confirmed there is no need for alarm and are advising the public to go about their normal activities while keeping an eye on official updates.
