Orange House swam away with top honours at the 2025 Queen’s College Inter-House Swimming Championship, amassing 397 points to celebrate as champions Wednesday at the Aquatic Centre in Wildey, St Michael.
After a full day of exciting races across multiple divisions, Orange House did just enough to stave off a strong challenge from Blue House, who placed second with 347 points. Purple House finished a close third with 345 points, while Red, Green, and Yellow House placed fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively with scores of 243, 140, and 133.
On the girls’ side, Purple House led the charge, amassing 239 points, followed by Red House with 153, and Blue House with 118. In the boys’ division, Orange House once again reigned supreme, collecting 312 points, ahead of Blue House (229) and Purple House (106).
Orange House ruled the pool thanks to individual performances from the males, thanks to Liam Valles Desroche (56 points) and Theodore Narain (43 points) in the 15-plus age group.
Descroche won the boys 50m backstroke (32.63 seconds), the 100m freestyle (1:07.22), and the 50m butterfly (31.71 seconds). The battle was between Descroche and Narine in that age group. Narine won gold in the boys 15+ 100m individual medley (1:12:85) while Descroche captured the silver medal (1:14:31).
There was a tie for first place between M’Rya Maycock of Purple House and Ayobami Leon-Barker of Blue House tallying 54 points each. Maycock stood on the podium in the number one spot of the 50m freestyle (32.40 seconds), Leon-Barker was second in (33.37 seconds). The ding dong battle between the two saw Leon-Barker coming first in the 50m backstroke (40.70 seconds) ahead of Maycock (42.19 seconds), and the battle continued between the two in the 100m Individual Medley with Leon-Barker (1:24.99) and Maycock (1:27.34)
In the other divisions, there were standout performances in the 13-14 category with Naomi Als of Purple House top scoring with 54 points, while Red House duo of Jada Pounder (46) and Saniya Minnis (44) were second and third respectively.
Equally competitive was the 13-14 boys division starting Cassius Narain of Blue House with 56 points. Storm Riley of Orange House scored 52 in second place and Emil Valles Desroche, also of Orange, took 29 points.
For the 12-and-Under division, Aliyah Greaves of Yellow House was unmatched in the girls category, accounting for 52 points, followed by Shania Corbin of Orange (44) and Jayla-Marie Blunte of Purple (36).
Similarly, Elisha Beckles of Green House stamped his authority in the 12-and-Under age group with 56 points, Amir Gittens of Blue House (44) was second and Keniel Ledgister of Purple (35) third.
