
Parents of students at Hillaby Turner’s Hall Primary School are demanding greater transparency from health and education officials, as concerns continue over a reported case of scarlet fever.
Yesterday, a group of frustrated parents gathered outside the Farmers, St Thomas school and voiced concerns to the MIDWEEK NATION
about the handling of the situation by the Ministry of Education Transformation and Ministry of Health and Wellness.
On Monday, Chief Medical Officer Dr The Most Honourable Kenneth George announced in a statement that 13 cases of students presenting with symptoms including rash, fever and sore throat had been reported and investigated. Of those, only one case tested positive for Group A Streptococcus, the bacteria that causes scarlet fever.
