The National Cultural Foundation (NCF) has announced a new location for the 2026 Courtesy Garage Pic-O-De-Crop Finals, following a meeting with calypsonians tonight.
The competition will now be held at the National Botanical Gardens on Friday, July 31.
The decision comes after concerns were raised by calypsonians and tent managers over the previous announcement to move the event from Kensington Oval to CARIFESTA House.
Several participants criticised the change, arguing that they should have been consulted before the new venue was announced. Concerns were also raised about CARIFESTA House’s capacity, staging and suitability for the island’s premier calypso competition.
The NCF had earlier pledged to meet with Pic-O-De-Crop finalists and tent managers to address the concerns surrounding the venue change.
