KFC Pinelands stamped their dominance once again in the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) Second Division, defeating the Fusionz Boutique Station Hill Cavaliers 58–49 on Sunday night at the Barbados Community College (BCC) to complete a 2–0 sweep and secure the championship.
After being blown out by 20 points in Game 1, the Cavaliers returned with renewed fight and fire. Led by veterans Dwayne Boo Kellman and Jamai Puckerin, Station Hill dictated the early tempo and showed heart on both ends of the floor. Their aggressive baseline drives and confident finishes in the paint stunned Pinelands, giving the Cavs narrow leads of 8–9 and 26–29 at the end of the first two quarters.
However, Pinelands adjusted.
National forward Carl Thorpe Jr, fresh off his 40-point explosion in Game 1, began to attack the Cavs’ interior with intent, forcing fouls and drawing double teams. Meanwhile, seasoned floor general Jeremy Gill orchestrated the offence with surgical precision, threading passes through traffic and setting up his teammates for high-percentage shots.
That offensive spark ignited the momentum of the Pine, swinging the game in their favour and putting them ahead 48–41 at the end of the third quarter. From there, the experienced Pinelands unit-maintained composure, controlling the pace and closing out the contest to lift yet another BABA title.
Gill led all scorers with a smooth 18 points, while Thorpe Jr chipped in with 15, combining for more than half of Pinelands’ total output. Kyhia Dyall and Corey McDonald each added six in the balanced effort.
For Station Hill, Puckerin dropped ten points, Asher Weekes followed with nine, while Kellman and Arrio Pope contributed eight apiece in the valiant but losing effort.
Despite the loss, the Cavaliers’ young core showed flashes of promise, fighting until the final whistle against a battle-hardened side stacked with experience and national pedigree.
Meanwhile, the Premium Fit Bears were officially crowned First Division champions and celebrated their promotion to the Co-operators General Insurance Premier League — a fitting reward for a consistent season.
As the dust settled on the BABA Second Division Finals, one thing became clear: experience, discipline, and execution down the stretch made all the difference, and KFC Pinelands stood tall at the top.
