QEH warns of increased demand at Accident & Emergency

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is warning the public of increased demand at its Accident & Emergency Department (AED).

Dr Anne-Marie Cruickshank, Head of the AED, said there has been a notable increase in trauma cases from motor vehicle accidents and altercations.

These cases require immediate medical attention, meaning patients with non-life-threatening conditions may face longer waiting times as critical cases are prioritised.

People seeking non-emergency care can call PALS at 536-4800 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.

They can also visit their nearest polyclinic, the Sir Winston Scott Polyclinic, which operates 24 hours a day, or a private healthcare provider.

People experiencing a critical or life-threatening emergency should continue to seek immediate care at the QEH.

The hospital is also asking families to collect discharged patients promptly to help with patient flow.

The QEH thanked the public for its patience and cooperation. (QEH)
