Rally Barbados is gearing up for its 37th staging, with next year’s event set for June 4 to 6.
The Barbados Rally Club also confirmed May 29 to 30 for the Auto & Rally Show and King of the Hill, the final shakedown and seeding event, subject to final ratification by the Barbados Motoring Federation.
The entry form for BCIC RB27 will go live on Monday, October 12, while the online entry window will close on March 1, 2027.
During the first three years of the BCIC’s, Rally Barbados has broken several records, including a record 121 cars starting in 2024, alongside increased spectator engagement, visitor numbers and media coverage.
According to event director Neil Barnard, “The record-breaking growth in entries in recent years doesn’t just reflect a boost in overseas interest, but also the evolution of our domestic scene. Island rallying is in astonishingly good health, with entry numbers at record levels throughout our national championships and ever-improving standards of driving and preparation meaning, a far higher percentage of starters become finishers.”
This year’s rally saw the local crew of Stuart Maloney and Kristian Yearwood claim their second victory, in three years, driving a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2. Jamaica’s Kyle Gregg and Yearwood’s brother, Kreigg, finished second in a Ford Fiesta Rally2.
Maloney’s brother Mark and nephew Justin completed the podium in another Fabia, while Barbadian Barry Mayers extended his record for two-wheel-drive victories to seven, finishing 11th overall in a rear-wheel-drive Ford Fiesta with co-driver Moishe Steinbok.
Rally Barbados traces its roots in the International All-Stage Rally of 1990 and has grown into the Caribbean’s biggest annual international motor sport event.
The event, according to a press release, has regularly generated more than BDS$4 million for the economy, much of it in valuable foreign exchange, and accounts for almost 5 000 visitor nights during a traditionally quiet period for tourism.
The event has hosted nearly 650 participants from 32 countries, who have made around 1 600 visits between them, bringing thousands of friends, family members and service crew members with them.
While the United Kingdom and Ireland remain the main source markets crews have travelled to Barbados from as far as Japan, Kenya and New Zealand.
