Rally fans flock to Bushy Park for BCIC Rally Show

Festive, cultural, and the calm before the storm.

That was the BCIC Rally Barbados 2025 Rally Show held on the grounds of the Bushy Park racing circuit today in St. Philip.

The Rally Show is a traditional pre-event fan fest before the engines are switched on the next day for the First Citizen’s King of the Hill and the following weekend for Rally Barbados.

Drivers, sponsors, car enthusiasts from Barbados, the wider Caribbean, and other parts of the world gathered in one place to celebrate beautiful cars, engine notes and burnt rubber.

This year’s show was no exception. However, the hundreds of fans that gathered had a bit more to take in, with a field of over 126 entered for the event. There was no shortage of cars with Toyotas, Fords, Citroens, Mitsubishis, and Hondas just some of the manufacturers represented.

New liveries were revealed as drivers welcomed new sponsors for the rest of the 2025 season and stood by their cars to fulfil sponsorship duties. Car companies came to advertise, food stalls were packed, and entrepreneurs were smiling.

As presenter Robin Bradford announced the who’s who of the event, the deejay’s sounds kept people moving steadily along while the First Citizens “tuk band” kept Barbadian culture alive among the sea of other flags.

One man who will be hoping to keep the Barbadian flag flying high this and next weekend is defending champion Stuart Maloney, who spoke with Sun Sport ahead of Sunday’s King of the Hill.

“Well, I think I just need to continue doing what I have been doing, and not focus on those behind, but just focus on staying up front. You know, it feels great. I know the car (Skoda Fabia Rally 2) well now, and I’m getting the most out of it,” Maloney noted.

“There’s still some left to get out of it but the other fellas are coming hard from behind. So, I’m happy with what we have and I think if we continue doing what we were doing throughout the last year and into this year, we stand a good chance of defending our title,” he added. (SW)
