Sixty children from vulnerable families now only need to worry about their thinking caps after receiving donations of back-to-school vouchers through the Rotary Club of Barbados South’s Back-to-School Project with funding assistance from Team RUBIS.
RUBIS supported the initiative with a donation of $4 000 for families identified by the Barbados Child Care Board. Each child received a store voucher to purchase their required school supplies, helping to ensure they are better prepared for the academic year.
Brand marketing specialist, Mellissa Broomes, said RUBIS was pleased to support the back-to-school project and was delighted with the results.
“We believe it is vital that every child has a fair chance at success and that no one is left behind.
Education is the foundation for opportunity, and through this initiative, we are pleased to play a role in helping children in our communities get ahead and build brighter futures,” Broomes said.
President-elect and fundraising chair of the Rotary Club of Barbados South (RCBS), Kerryann Ifill, thanked RUBIS for supporting the annual programme, noting it was a testament to the power of partnership.
“With your support, we were able to help 60 vulnerable
families prepare for the new academic year, ensuring that children will return to school equipped and ready to learn. This initiative is a true testament to the power of service and partnership.
When businesses and service organisations come together, we can break barriers and create lasting impact in our communities,” Ifill said.
Deputy Director of the Barbados Child Care Board, Colin St Hill, expressed sincere gratitude to both organisations for assisting families in need.
