Rowe marks fourth year of back-to-school giveback in The City

Democratic Labour Party (DLP) candidate for The City of Bridgetown, Dale Rowe, has once again reached out to families in need through his annual back-to-school initiative.

This year marked the fourth staging of the programme, with 50 school bags—25 for boys and 25 for girls—distributed to children in the constituency.

“I started this venture because I know a lot of parents [are not] always in a position to have all of the school supplies,” he explained.

“Every year for the past four years, Sole Addiction has been the number one and main sponsor as it relates to the school giveback.”

The initiative has steadily expanded. Last year, Rowe partnered with community organisations to provide 50 bicycles. Two weeks ago, in collaboration with the Mental Health Association in the United States, another 50 bicycles were donated to pupils of St Ambrose Primary School.

Rowe estimates that over the past four years, some 400 school bags have been distributed across the constituency.

“The school giveback was a success…. The purpose of this drive is just to provide assistance to parents who might be in a little financial struggle,” he said.

This year’s effort carried special significance, coinciding with Rowe’s birthday.

“I did the back-to-school drive on my birthday, August 25th…. The reason I did it on my birthday [was] just to celebrate life and the opportunity and just to celebrate everything in general,” he said. (SB)
