Sagicor helped bring the magic of the season to life recently when the company hosted a warm and joy-filled Christmas party for children and families from the New Orleans and Chapman Lane communities in St. Michael.
Just over one hundred and fifty children and parents turned out for the celebration, which was hosted in and around the New Orleans Police Community Outpost, transforming the space into a lively hub of music, excitement, and festive joy.
The event formed part of Sagicor’s continued support of the Learning in Harmony Homework Programme. A partnership with the Barbados Police Service that provides lessons, mentorship, and much more for young people in the neighbouring communities.
Coordinator of the Homework Programme Sergeant Wendell Weeks described the turnout and support as deeply inspiring for everyone involved. “The turnout was beyond anything we could have imagined. To see so many children and parents come out with such enthusiasm reminds us why the Learning in Harmony Programme matters. When the community feels supported, when our young people feel encouraged, it creates a ripple effect of positivity. Partnerships like the one we have with Sagicor help us do far more than we could ever achieve alone.”
Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sagicor Life Inc (Barbados) Paul Inniss, said the celebration reflects the company’s belief in giving back and building stronger communities. “At its heart, Christmas is about togetherness, generosity and lifting each other up and that is exactly what this party represents. When we invest in our communities, especially in our young people, we’re helping to shape brighter futures. Sagicor is honoured to stand with the Barbados Police Service in creating spaces where children feel celebrated, inspired and valued, not just at Christmas, but all year long. This is the true spirit of the season.”
From giveaways and rides to entertainment and warm fellowship, the event reinforced the positive impact of the homework initiative and the importance of corporate community partnerships during the holiday season and beyond.
Sagicor remains committed to programmes that empower the youth, strengthen neighbourhood bonds, and create lasting, meaningful change across Barbados.
