Sagicor General Insurance Inc. (SGI) is celebrating the first anniversary of Sagicor Drive, its innovative telematics mobile app designed to promote safer driving habits and reward responsible drivers across the region.
To mark the milestone, SGI hosted a series of pop-up events across several markets, connecting with users and sharing the benefits of the app, which continues to gain momentum and positive feedback.
Sagicor Drive is currently available in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua, and Saint Lucia, and has already attracted more than five hundred users. The app uses telematics technology to monitor driving patterns, providing drivers with insights into their habits, while encouraging safer behaviour on the road. The app also rewards safe driving with badges, vouchers and a discount when clients renew their policy.
Over the past year, the SGI team has introduced several enhancements to improve the app’s performance and user experience, making it even more efficient and user-friendly than when it first launched. According to Andre Barrow, Assistant Vice President of Innovation and Business Systems at Sagicor General, the data gathered so far reflects encouraging results. “The signals are very positive. While we have not seen a reduction in accidents so far as a result of the app, we are hoping that the use of the app will start to highlight good driving habits that will result in fewer claims for our clients using Sagicor Drive.”
Sagicor Drive represents a key part of Sagicor General’s digital innovation strategy, leveraging technology to enhance client experience, improve road safety, and support communities through smarter, data-driven solutions.
