Sentencing submissions for a self-confessed double murderer have been postponed after the court was told that key medical reports were not yet available.
Demetrico Ricardo Layne, of Graham’s Alley, Nelson Street, St Michael, has admitted to murdering Olivia Cecelia Carter on July 27, 2020, and Odith Nicole Henriques on August 2, 2021.
Layne told police that he strangled the two women on separate occasions following sexual encounters.
When he appeared before Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell in the No. 4 Supreme Court on Friday, the court was informed that his psychiatric, psychological and behavioural reports had not yet been completed.
The case was adjourned until July 14.
He is represented by attorney Leslie Cargil-Straker, while State Counsel Paul Prescod is prosecuting.
