After a prosecutor objected to his release due to an existing bail on another matter, Romario Shane Lewis was remanded to Dodds Prison on a charge of serious bodily harm.
The 35-year-old machine operator of Hillside, Gall Hill, Christ Church, went before Magistrate Manila Renee in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court, accused that, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable Andrew Ashmeade, he did serious bodily harm to Ashmeade on April 20.
Sergeant Reginald Blackman argued against Lewis’ release, saying that he has 21 previous convictions, was already on bail from the Oistins Magistrates’ Court, and was on a curfew.
Saying the complainant had been released from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the prosecutor added that if the accused was granted bail, it would undermine the judicial system.
The accused returns to court on June 23.
