Seven Government Senators were sworn in on Thursday morning during a ceremony at State House, completing the Government’s appointments to the Upper House following the February 11 general election.
The Most Honourable Reginald Farley, F.B., J.P., was sworn in as President of the Senate, while The Most Honourable Elizabeth Thompson, F.B., took the oath as Deputy President of the Senate.
Also sworn in as Government Senators were John King, Roshanna Trim, Ramon Alleyne, Kamisha Benjamin and Janeil Odle.
The ceremony follows the swearing-in of Members of Parliament earlier this week and forms part of the official establishment of the new Parliament.
The Senate, which reviews and debates legislation passed in the House of Assembly, will now begin its work for the new parliamentary term.
