
Shai Hope made another magnificent century to lead West Indies to one of their greatest wins in T20 International history. The skipper made 102 not out as the Windies posted 252 for four off 18.3 overs to win by six wickets against India in the city of Ranchi yesterday.
Hope faced just 45 balls and struck nine sixes – as he became the fifth batter to make a century in all formats in India. He ended the match in style with a six down the ground and two balls later over the cover boundary.
It was the highest run chase in West Indies history in T20Is as they bettered the 232 against South Africa in Johannesburg three years ago.
Hope enjoyed the winning moment with a massive celebration. He screamed with delight and raised his hands towards the skies as he marked the team victory and his second century in this format.
The match changed when Hope and Sherfane Rutherford added 120 runs in nine overs as they took the score from 58 for three to 178 for four. The left-handed Rutherford made 84 off 37 balls with seven sixes.
Overall West Indies, hit 20 sixers in the match as they levelled the series 1-1 with three matches to go.
Earlier, Sanju Samson led India with 82 and Mayank Yadav took three wickets for 36 runs in the chase.
