West Indies have been forced to make three changes for the T20 International Series against Pakistan in the United States. Fast bowler Shamar Joseph replaced Alzarri Joseph in a move designed to manage work loads.
In the batting department Johnson Charles and Alick Athanaze have been called up to replace Brandon King and Shimron Hetmyer, who both picked up injuries on Monday night in the fifth and final T20I against Australia at Warner Park in St Kitts.
Shamar Joseph made headlines in January 2024 when he took a sensational seven-wicket haul (7‑68) in only his second Test, helping end a 27-year drought for the West Indies in Australia at the Gabba.
Recently he was the most outstanding bowler in the three Test Series against Australia in the West Indies with 21 wickets at 14.9 each. He is expected to share the new ball with left-arm pacer Jediah Blades, another young and exciting player in the West Indies set-up.
West Indies and Pakistan open their three-match series at the Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida on Thursday at 8pm.
The second and third matches will be played at the same venue on Saturday and Sunday night. West Indies had a full training session on Wednesday morning in sizzling hot conditions which reached 37 degrees Celsius. (PS)
