Shirley Chisholm Primary rose from the depths of despair to defeat Gordon Walters Primary and claim a fourth consecutive netball title in an exhilarating final of the Pedialyte 2025 National Sports Council (NSC) Schools’ Netball Competition on Tuesday at the Wildey Gymnasium.
Trailing 3-0 at the close of the first quarter, Shirley Chisholm changed their orange bibs to pink and changed their luck to emerge 9-7 champions in front of an exuberant crowd.
Goal shooter Lashanae Passley and goal attack Zaryha Ramsay scored four unanswered goals in the final quarter, thanks to the work of goal defence Cemone Edwards and goal keeper Arin Ocean-Eastmond.
Down five goals to one at half-time, Shirley Chisholm fans cheered their primary school netball giants to an 8-2 run over the last two quarters to retain their title.
Passley’s shooting stats read five from seven (5/7), while Ramsey hit four of five (4/5) shots.
Gordon Walters goal shooter Chaia Chase scored four of her five (4/5) attempts, while goal attack Fernancia Drakes-Small made three of six (3/6) attempts.
