A disorganised Tropical Storm Jerry continues to move across the central Atlantic, and on its present track, is expected to pass well north of Barbados on Thursday.
At 11 a.m. Wednesday, Tropical Storm Jerry was located near 13.3N 50.7W or approximately 458 miles (738km) east of Barbados.
A small-craft and high-surf warning is in effect for Barbados, but there are no storm watches at this time. Marine conditions are forecast to deteriorate from tomorrow, Thursday, October 9th, with models suggesting swell heights of up to 3.5m in Barbados’ marine space. Conditions are expected to improve from Friday morning.
An increase in cloudiness and shower activity is likely across the island from tomorrow, with a further increase in activity on Friday as the system moves north of the region. This may trigger flash-flood watches or warnings at that time.
Satellite imagery shows the low-level centre just northwest of the deep convection as Jerry experiences some westerly shear. The system is moving along a west-northwestward track around 20 knots (23mph), with sustained winds around 52 knots (60mph).
As the system moves north of the island Thursday and Friday, current rainfall projections suggest up to 2 inches are possible, as this system passes. (PR/SAT)
