Soca royalty reigns at Fort Christian Lot as St Thomas Carnival Village comes alive

Hypasounds and Alison Hinds led a spectacular night of music as the USVI Division of Festivals at St Thomas Carnival Village delivered an unforgettable experience.

The air was electric at Fort Christian Lot in St Thomas as Carnival Village delivered one of its most memorable nights of the season.

Thousands of revellers gathered under the open sky for an evening that showcased the very best of Caribbean Soca and culture, with performances from Hypasounds and Alison Hinds; they took the night to another level entirely.

As the night gathered momentum, Hypasounds took control of the crowd with a commanding performance that showcased his versatility as an artiste and why the ladies love him! He is known for his ability to read a crowd and build an atmosphere; he kept the energy soaring and delivered his performance with precision and flair.

The crowd responded with the kind of unbridled enthusiasm that only Carnival season can produce.

No Carnival night is complete without Alison Hinds, and she did not disappoint. Alison Hinds immediately reminded the audience why she has held the title of Queen of Soca for decades.

She engaged the audience with the warmth and confidence of an artiste completely at home on any stage, at any hour, in any crowd.

The Carnival Village night at Fort Christian Lot in St Thomas was more than a concert, it was a statement. A statement that the US Virgin Islands remains one of the premier destinations for Caribbean cultural celebration, and that when St Thomas puts on a show, it does so with conviction.

St Thomas Carnival, held every April, continues to grow as one of the most anticipated events in the Caribbean calendar, and evenings like this are a testament to why. Hypasounds has made no secret of his affection for the USVI, counting it among his favourite places to visit, and his energy on the night reflected every bit of that love for the islands and their people.

Special thanks are extended to the Division of Festivals US Virgin Islands and Riddimstream for making the night possible, as well as to Michael Knight and his band for providing the live musical foundation that brought every performance to life.

The momentum does not stop here. Hypasounds will next take the stage in Barbados for Patrice Roberts’ highly anticipated I Am Woman event, scheduled for Mother’s Day. It promises to be a celebration worthy of the occasion — a night honouring woman, powered by some of the Caribbean’s finest talent. Fans in Barbados would do well to secure their tickets early.

The tour continues this weekend in Atlanta, Georgia, and the road ahead looks every bit as exciting as the night that just passed.
