Sonia Boyce sworn in as Barbados’ first female Commissioner of Police

Sonia Boyce was sworn in today as Commissioner of Police, becoming the first woman to hold the post in Barbados.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at State House and was carried out by Acting President the Very Reverend Dr Jeffrey Gibson.

Boyce takes over from Richard Boyce as head of The Barbados Police Force.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley was also present at the ceremony.

Her appointment marks a historic milestone for the 191-year-old institution.
