When Kailey Corbin, Sarah Mayers and their mothers were told to visit the offices of Goddard Enterprises Ltd by their teacher at St Mary’s Primary School, they did not know exactly why they were going there. So, it was quite a surprise for all four of them when they were told that the girls were the recipients of the 2026 Goddard Enterprises Ltd (GEL) scholarships.
The scholarships, which will assist the students in transitioning from primary to secondary school, will cover their uniforms, shoes, school fees and the other accessories required for their new schools.

Sarah is looking forward to her first day at St George Secondary School and is hoping to continue to play netball there, aspiring to the position of Goal Shoot, a position she played on the St Mary’s Primary team. A lover of grammar, she admits to finding it hard to leave her primary alma mater but is looking forward to meeting her new teachers, making new friends and tackling all the new subjects that she has only heard about to date.
Described as “a respectful, hardworking and determined student,” her teachers say that Sarah “shows a genuine interest in learning and participates positively in class, completing her assignments conscientiously.” Sarah also served her school as a Senior Prefect and her teachers confirmed that she demonstrated responsibility, maturity and leadership in this role, and set a positive example for her peers.
Kailey stated that she likes her Mathematics but is looking forward to doing art, a hobby she loves because she really likes to draw. Science, Maths and Robotics are high on her list when she gets to St Michael School because she ‘loves to build’ she said. She said she has had the opportunity to build robots at St Mary’s and is hoping that there will be more of the same when she gets to the Martindale’s Road institution, a school which she always aspired to and on which she had set her mind to go.
Her teachers describe her as “outstanding student who has distinguished herself through her strong work ethic, academic achievement and exemplary conduct. She is a dedicated learner who consistently demonstrates resilience, responsibility and a willingness to assist others. Her positive attitude and commitment to personal growth have earned her the respect of both teachers and classmates and the role of Senior Prefect.”
Shareka Clarke, Executive Assistant at GEL, on congratulating the children on their scholarships, urged them to be focussed and encouraged them to continue to do well.
She told them that there may be distractions when they reach secondary school, but they must keep their eyes on their goals. (PR)
