The Sundown Festival lived up to its promise of delivering an unforgettable event filled with music and connections.
From the moment the gates opened last Saturday, there was an air of excitement as patrons — locals and tourists alike — streamed into the beautifully lit Foursquare Rum Distillery grounds, eager for a night that blended homegrown talent with international sounds.
The atmosphere was electric. The crowd sang, danced, and embraced every beat, with some festival-goers clearly arriving well-prepared for the pop-punk rock haven. They already knew the music of Trinidad’s Incert Coin and Canadian pop-punk bands Nothing Serious and Among Legends, joining in word-for-word on some of the songs.
Local performers like Fighting Traffic, EDN, and G0chita added to the magic, showcasing the vibrancy of Barbados’ own creative pop punk/ rock scene while standing shoulder-toshoulder with visiting acts. At its core was Sundown Superhero, the Barbadian-born pop-punk trio who not only headlined but also produced the festival, turning their vision into reality with seamless execution.
Known for their high-octane performances and genre-bending sound, they curated a set that was the centrepiece of the evening — dynamic, charged, and deeply personal — proving why they continue to be one of Barbados’ most exciting alternative acts to watch.
The atmosphere extended beyond the stage. Fans lined up after sets to meet musicians, grab merch, and capture the kind of intimate moments that transform concerts into lifelong memories. For Sundown Superhero, that connection was the most rewarding part of the night.
“We had an opportunity to meet friends and fans after the show. They were buying T-shirts; we were signing autographs. It was really a special moment to be able to connect with both locals and tourists who came to the event and shared a good time with us. So yeah, that’s huge,” said Emile Sabga, guitarist and frontman vocalist.
None of it would have been possible without a strong foundation of support, added Sabga, who extended gratitude to Foursquare Rum Distillery and RL Seale, who hosted the festival. He also thanked AccuSounds, Intelligent Lighting, and FieldTech Staging Solutions, as well as Rebell Burger, Chorus Rum Punch, and Eclipse Couriers Limited, all of whom rounded out the festival experience with food, drinks, and essential services.
Reflecting on the success of the festival, organisers described the energy as nothing short of electric: “The festival, Sundown Fest, was fantastic.
We had a great time, and, in our opinion, it was a great success,” Sabga shared. “Everything went really smoothly, ran on time, guests had a really good time, it seemed, you know, to come out and see some bands that are both local and international.”
