Teen sentenced for robbery and loitering offences

An 18-year-old from St James has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to robbery and loitering charges.

Jakobi Amani Jamal Norman, of 24B Haynesville, was arrested and formally charged in connection with a robbery committed against Janelle Mayers on August 8, 2025, as well as two counts of loitering on August 10.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District ‘A’ Criminal Court #1, where he pleaded guilty to all offences.

Norman was sentenced to 18 months at the Barbados Prison Service (Dodds), with an additional one-week sentence for breaching a previous bond. The sentences are to run consecutively. (PR/BT)
