Telecommunications outage disrupts Customs services at GAIA

A telecommunications outage has disrupted Customs services at Terminal II of the Grantley Adams International Airport, preventing the processing of payments and clearance of general cargo.

The Barbados Customs and Excise Department said on Monday that its telecommunications provider was experiencing an outage in the area and there was no estimated time for restoration.

As a result, people seeking to make Customs payments for goods normally processed at Terminal II have been directed to the Leroy Trotman Building at Customs House, University Row, St Michael.

The department said it is monitoring the situation and will provide an update when the service is restored.

Customs apologised for the disruption and thanked members of the public for their patience and understanding.
