Anderson Keith Patrick Jackman has been sentenced to six months at Dodds Prison after admitting to stealing produce from the Pine Agricultural Basin.
The 31-year-old, of My Lords Hill, appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick and pleaded guilty to stealing 15 pounds of plantain valued at $125, 15 soursops worth $85 and $19 in passion fruits at $1 a piece, from Norman Atwell’s plot, on August 16.
Jackman had 16 previous convictions, the majority of which were under the Theft Act.
Sergeant Victoria Leacock told the court that following reports of produce being stolen from the Pine Agricultural Basin, police went to the area in search of Jackman but did not see him. They then searched the surrounding districts and found him at about 8 am pushing a pan cart containing the produce.
He was approached, was informed of the report and admitted to taking the produce from the basin. He was then arrested and taken into custody at District ‘A’ Police Station.
